Bread Pudding

This time for bread pudding I decided to use some sweet bread! My boyfriends house had lots of stale bread, the end result was really tasty, but more of a baked french toast casserole rather than “bread pudding”

  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 5 large eggs beaten
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large loaf of bread
  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1 cup peacans – optional ( I did not use them)

  • 3/4 cup of white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of brandy- optional ( i did not use)

1. Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Grease a 9×13″ baking pan.
2. Mix the sugar, eggs, and milk in a large bowl; add the vanilla. Pour over the cubed bread and let sit for 10 minutes. In another bowl, mix and crumble together the brown sugar, butter, and pecans. Pour the bread mixture into the pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set. Remove from the oven.
3. To make the sauce: Mix together the sugar, butter, egg and vanilla in a saucepan. Stir together over medium heat until the sugar is melted. Add the brandy, stirring well. Pour over the bread pudding. Serve warm or cold.
